Recently, my friend commissioned me to design a hand-made customized iPad casing. She wanted to make the casing looks like a book, Sherlock Holmes to be exact. It’s a labour of love for Benedict Cumberbatch. Haha!
This is the original casing.
The inside.
I started by outlining the text using pencil. I wanted to make sure the text are aligned and centered.
I used 2 processes in this project: Sharpie & Fabric marker. I used Gold Sharpie as the base since the ink is not shiny but pretty much easy to handle. The fabric marker is used afterward to enhance the ‘gold effect’ on the fabric.
You can see the difference between Sharpie and Fabric marker.
From another view.
Since the tip of the marker is not fine enough, the details of the font are not really precise. However, the client likes the hand-made effect of the work, so I’m happy too.
Few hours later…
…aaaand some branding at the back! đŸ™‚
